If in the near future a solution to the participation in “Eurovision” of Russia isn’t found, Ukraine may lose the right to hold the international competition.
This was stated by the Head of the European Broadcasting Union Ingrid Deltenre in an interview that was published in the Swiss Sonntagsblick magazine. The representative of the European broadcasting Union emphasized that the intention to impose sanctions on Ukraine and to exclude it from “Eurovision” are quite serious as the EBU considers the decision of the Ukrainian authorities on the banning of entry of the representative of Russia Yulia Samoylova “absolutely inadmissible”.
Mrs. Deltenre also mentioned in the interview that now serious negotiations are conducted with the prime minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groysman and the President Petro Poroshenko over the search for a solution to the situation.
“I deeply regret the fact that the “Eurovision” is being abused for political action,” stated Deltenre. “The Eurovison Song Contest is supposed to delight and bring together millions of people; it must not be used to incite them against each other.”
