The Kiev authorities are going to take out from the city all homeless people in order to not “irritate” guests of Eurovision, writes the Ukrainian Vesti agency, with reference to the press service of police of the city.
Where exactly the homeless will be taken hasn’t been decided. “It isn’t excluded that somewhere beyond Kiev we will unload them into an open field,” reported the patrolman of one of the stations of the city to the newspaper.
According to the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, now in Kiev there are about 20,000 homeless, but there are practically no shelters for them, writes the agency.
Persons of no fixed abode often commit petty thefts and participate in the drug trade, note “Vesti”.
Eurovision-2017 will take place in Kiev in May. At the song competition Yulia Samoylova with the composition Flame Is Burning was supposed to represent Russia, however the Security Service of Ukraine forbid the singer from entering the territory of the country for three years after she visited Crimea in 2015.
