Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow wants to see Ukraine develop as an independent and strong state, as Russia needs a stable partner, reports TASS.

“We want Ukraine to develop as an independent state, strong economically and in all other aspects, in order to have a reliable and stable partner. This is fully in line with our national, state interests,” said Putin.

The Russian President assured that Moscow will do everything it can to achieve this goal, but fundamental problems remain in the competence of Kiev.

The Russian President stressed that Moscow is ready to create conditions for the negotiation process on the Ukrainian crisis and become a guarantor of possible agreements, but it all depends on the will and actions of Ukraine. Thus, Poroshenko needs to amend the Constitution and sign the laws on amnesty and elections.

“This can only be done by Ukraine itself, by the Ukrainian leadership itself. We can’t sign the law on Amnesty on behalf of the President of Ukraine, we cannot adopt a law on elections,” said Putin.
