Intelligence of the Donetsk People’s Republic managed to obtain a document of the SBU, according to which there is a desire to disconnect the residents of Donbass from mobile communication.

As was reported by the operational command of the DPR, in the document it is reported that Ukraine is going to disconnect the cellular towers of all cellular operators in a zone 50 kilometers from the contact line on the territory under the control of Kiev.

It is highlighted that this is connected to a fear of information leakage. The SBU wants to restrict the opportunities of the inhabitants to make any calls. And this means that now they cannot call an ambulance or relatives. The chief of the main department of the SBU in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions Major-General Aleksandr Kuts acted as the author of the suggestion. The addressee is the chief of the main department of military counterintelligence of the SBU Major-General Sergey Levchenko.

Also the chief of the main department of the SBU in Donbass suggests to give officials “devices of satellite communication like “Iridium” and ‘Most-AS’ instead of the current ‘Obriy’ means of crypto-protection of information”.

At the same time the SBU does not intend to turn off the communications of “MTS-Vodafone” in the LDPR territories, in order to leave an opportunity to monitor the actions of Donetsk and Lugansk. In this regard “it is offered to provide SBU employees  with access to the gateways that are on the territory controlled by government troops”.
