Because of the falling away of Donbass and Crimea alone, Ukrainian export has decreased by $13 billion.

The general losses of Ukrainian export have in recent years totalled $25.2 billion. At the same time, because of the “occupation” of Donbass and Crimea alone, export has lost $12.9 billion. This was reported in the project of export strategy published on the website of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

“The cost of export losses at the expense of these regions, together with the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea, totals $12.9 billion, whereas general export losses of Ukraine are $25.2 billion,” it is said in the document.

According to the export strategy, the share of the Crimea, Donetsk, and Lugansk regions in the total amount of export of Ukrainian goods has decreased from 26.6% in 2013 to 10.4% in 2015.

At the same time, in 2016 30% of exports went to the EU countries, and nearly 15% – to Russia. Ukraine exported agricultural products most of all.

As a reminder, earlier “Gosstat” [State Statistics Service of Ukraine – ed] reported that the balance of foreign trade in goods of Ukraine in 2016 was negative $2.886 billion whereas in 2015 it was positive $610.7 million.
