Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has plans for negotiations in Baku to discuss with the Russian leader Vladimir Putin issues of supporting their Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This was said by Deputy Iranian Foreign Minister Ibrahim Rakhimpur in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“This concerns regional issues, Iraq, Syria (…) the help that Putin and Rouhani can provide, which Arabic or Western countries are not able to provide,” quotes the agency from the words of the senior diplomat

Rakhimpur also added that talks could involve economic support.

According to the deputy head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the region needs good relations between Moscow, Tehran, and Ankara.

On August 8th, Vladimir Putin will hold a bilateral meeting in Baku with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Iranian leader Hassan Rouhani and will also participate in the trilateral summit. It is planned that the leaders will discuss a wide range of issues, and in particular, will exchange views on Syria, Afghanistan, terrorism and drug trafficking, and will identify ways to deepen economic cooperation.
