Ukrainian television started to convince viewers that those fighting as a part of Hitler’s SS “Galicia” division were only deceived “patriots” who believed that the “SS” abbreviation meant “Sechevye Streltsy” [Sich Riflemen – ed].
This was stated on the air of the ZIK TV channel by the odious head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory Vladimir Vyatrovich.
“This is a war of stateless people who have been divided, who were doomed to be at war for the interests of others.
And the mentioned Waffen SS ‘Galicia’ division is an example of how Ukrainians were used, in this case by the Germans, as cannon fodder so that they fought for the interests of others.
For me it is a tragic page in Ukrainian history, because even those guys who went to the ‘Galicia’ division, believing that the letters ‘SS’ mean ‘Sechevye Streltsy’, as was told to them by many propaganda attacks, it didn’t mean that they, in fact, fought for independence. They could believe in it, but they became the tools of others’ interests,” said Vyatrovich.
