The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov on Thursday, May 31st, presented the Academy of patrol police. The graduation of the first 83 cadets of the Academy also took place on this same day.

This was stated in the statement of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“Changing the system is impossible without changing the training system. The new police implements three main principles in their activity: honesty, dedication, and professionalism,” said Avakov during the graduation.

He added that the main objective of the Academy of police patrol is to teach, raise, and train the “new Ukrainian police officer”.

According to the head of the National Police Sergey Knyazev, the implementation of the Academy of police patrol project took place with the assistance of international partners.

“Thanks to the help of the governments of Canada and the US we were able to overcome difficulties and introduce a new educational institution for police officers,” noted Knyazev.

As the head of the patrol force Aleksandr Fatsevich said, the first 83 cadets went through four-months of primary vocational training on the basis of the newly created Academy.

The ambassador of the US in Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, who was present during the presentation, assured that the United States will continue to support the reform of the police in Ukraine.
