Belgorod-Dnestrovsky in the Odessa region pronounced a sentence to an inhabitant for posts on the social network “VKontakte” with calls to stop the war in Donbass and to restore peace in Ukraine.

This was reported by journalists of the Ukrainian “Golos Pravdy” oppositional publication with reference to the press service of the prosecutor’s office of the region.

The man was accused of “working for the enemy”, and his messages were equated to “calls to change the borders of the territory of Ukraine in defiance of the order established by the Constitution of Ukraine”.

“The prosecutor’s office of the Odessa region endorsed the public prosecution in criminal proceedings, and based on the results of consideration the citizen was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment with a 3-year probation period,” it is said in the statement.

The pre-judicial investigation in criminal proceedings was conducted by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odessa region in accordance with Part 1 and Part 2 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
