On April 6th, 2017, the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Aleksandr Zakharchenko greeted participants of the DPR’s first mobilization gathering of army reservists. The event took place at the Torez training ground near Shakhtyorsk. While addressing the reservists, Zakharchenko noted the great importance of such events. After the Head of State spoke, the DPR Defense Minister Vladimir Kononov gave the order to give weapons to reservists with military experience for safekeeping in the event of a combat alarm being raised. The other reservists will be issued with weapons in the future, after completing all the necessary procedures and special training programs. In total, the reservist assembly brought together about 30,000 people. The participants were aged from 18 to 55 years old.

As a note, the background song to the video below is the Great Patriotic War Soviet anthem “Vstavay, strana ogromnaya” (The Sacred War), which echoes the values of the USSR and its defeat of fascism.
