Petro Poroshenko needs to change the format of the so-called “ATO” and expand the powers on the use of the Army in order to quell any manifestation of dissent.

This was stated on the air of the “Correction of mistakes” program by the political scientist Ruslan Bortnik.

According to him, after the adoption of the changes announced by the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council Aleksandr Turchynov, Poroshenko will be able to carry out an “anti-terrorist operation” in any region, reports the correspondent of Politnavigator.

“Here there is a very important motivation — the expansion of powers of the President, simplification of the procedure of the introduction of martial law or the use of the Army in Ukraine. Maybe some kind of message for the competing political elite that the “anti-terrorist operation zone” can be expanded or created in Lvov, Odessa, and Kiev. If people come outside for rallies, for example, against pension or medical reforms, this will be declared as an element of hybrid war, the interference of Russia in the intra-Ukrainian political situation, and it will be possible without the announcement of an anti-terrorist operation to use the Army and to introduce these or those provisions,” said Bortnik.
