Bill to Protect the Russian Language in Ukraine Registered in the Rada

A bill promoting and protecting the Russian language was introduced in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. This was reported on the website of the Ukrainian parliament.

It is noted that the bill carries the name “About Ensuring State Support of Actions for the Development, Promotion, and Protection of the Russian Language, and Other Languages of Ethnic Minorities in Ukraine”. It was registered on December 26th by the deputy from the Oppositional Bloc faction Evgeny Balitsky.

Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada have gone on their winter vacation, and will resume work on January 17th, 2017.

Earlier, activists organized a picket at the building of the Constitutional court, urging them not to allow the use of the Russian language in Ukraine.
