Bulgarian MEP Georgi Pirinski Called the Human Rights Situation in Ukraine “More Than Alarming”

The situation in Ukraine with respect to human rights is very alarming, but because of the geopolitical factor attempts are made in the EU to not raise this topic, considers the European Parliament Deputy from Bulgaria and member of the “Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats” faction Georgi Pirinski considers.

“This situation is more than alarming. A whole number of questions raise the biggest bewilderment and concern,” said Pirinski to RIA Novosti, who participated in the conference on the subject “Human Rights Violations, Restrictions of Freedom of Speech, and Political Repression in Ukraine” that took place on Wednesday in the European Parliament headquarters in Brussels.

He explained the concealment in the European Union of the topic of human rights violations in Ukraine. “Undoubtedly, the so-called geopolitical factor influences this,” noted the europarliamentarian.

“What we observe in Ukraine today isn’t the path to achieve European prospects,” added Pirinski.
