Criminal cases were opened against four commanders of the Ukrainian Armed Forces for shelling the civilians of Donbass. The corresponding statement was made by the official representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia Svetlana Petrenko.
Under the article, commanders of the separate mechanized brigades of the UAF Andrey Sokolov, Vladislav Klochkov, and Vitaly Yakubov, as well as the battalion commander Mikhail Prokopiv. Criminal cases under the article “application of prohibited means and methods of warfare” were opened against them. In particular, they are accused of applying artillery strikes on residential houses in Yasinovataya and Staromykhailovka, as well as the Nikitskoye district of Gorlovka, which occurred on the 15th and 16th March of this year.
“In addition, a criminal case was opened on the fact of artillery shelling from heavy weapons on residential buildings in the city of Makeevka on October 27th, 2016,” added Petrenko during a briefing.
As a reminder, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened criminal cases under the same article against the Minister of Defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak, chief of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Viktor Muzhenko and the commander of the National Guard Yury Allerov.
