The delegations of Russia and the People’s Republics of Donbass left the negotiations of the humanitarian subgroup on Donbass in Minsk.

The delegations of Russia, and also the self-proclaimed Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics (the LPR and DPR) left negotiations of the humanitarian subgroup on Donbass in the Belarusian capital in protest at the position of the Kiev authorities concerning the exchange of prisoners, reports RIA Novosti with reference to the statement of the representative of the LPR in the subgroup Olga Kobtseva.

Kobtseva explained that Irina Gerashenko, holding the position of the representative of the Ukrainian government in the humanitarian subgroup, stated that Ukraine will deal with the issue of the exchange of prisoners exclusively with OSCE and the “Russian Federation occupant”. After this, the delegations of the people’s republics together with the representative of Russia left the negotiations in protest.

As a reminder, the armed conflict started in the territory of the East of Ukraine in Donbass, begun in April, 2014, after a radical government came to power in the country. Soldiers of the Ukrainian army and forces of the DPR and LPR are involved in clashes.
