The new church structure touted by the president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the Ukrainian press – the Orthodox Church in Ukraine – consists of schismatics who committed heresy. Such a statement was made on the air of the “NewsOne” TV channel by the Ukrainian Orthodox publicist Dmitry Skvortsov.
“I don’t regard Tomos to be a gift for such a great holiday as Christmas, and I think that the millions of believers of the largest faith in Ukraine – the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) – consider it to be either. Tomos is a factor that will further deepen the split of Ukraine along confessional and national grounds”
noted the publicist
Skvortsov noted that the canonical church was created by Jesus Christ 2,000 years ago, but this pseudo-church was created by Petro Alekseevich Poroshenko, together with those who left the canonical Church.
Viktor Yushchenko was also engaged in creating this church. It is also necessary to mention the role that Leonid Kravchuk played, because Filaret swore on the Bible in front of a cross that he would leave his position as the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, but Kravchuk convinced him to become a “Patriarch” if not of Moscow, then at least of Kiev.
The Kiev publicist also spoke about why it’s not “Patriarch” Filaret who became the head of the pseudo-church in Ukraine, but his appointee Epifany.
“Filaret was presented with a fait accompli, since he isn’t recognised by any local Orthodox Church in the world. And as result he can’t head the new structure created by Constantinople and Poroshenko’s schismatics, since all this brethren want to achieve recognition by world Orthodoxy”
explained Skvortsov.
In addition, the publicist focused on the fact that after the signing of Tomos the new pseudo-church fell into the clutches of Constantinople.
“The existence of Exarchates in this Tomos means that it won’t be a local church”
noted Skvortsov
It should be noted that the UOC-MP, which is recognised by 15 other Orthodox Churches, operates on Ukraine. According to the publicist Skvortsov, the decision of the Moscow Patriarchate to cut spiritual ties with Constantinople is a logical one.
