The member countries of the European Union will start processing the visa inquiries of the residents of the districts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions that aren’t controlled by Kiev. The corresponding guides were already distributed, reported the website of the European Commission on October 3rd.
These recommendations are developed on the basis of inquiries of EU countries concerning instructions for identification and non-recognition of the passports issued on Donbass after the decree of the Russian president of April 24.
“The guidance sent provides a set of uniform treatment criteria to help Member States’ consulates to establish the actual place of legal residence of Russian passport holders, as well as details on how to process visa applications by residents of the non-Government controlled areas of Ukraine’s Donetsk and Luhansk regions holding Russian passports,” it is said in the statement.
It is noted that the residents of Donetsk and Lugansk can submit an application for a Schengen visa to consulates of member states in Ukraine, irrespective of whether or not they have travel documents.
Since May of this year Russian passports were received by about 35,000 residents of the DPR and LPR.
