The head of the Kiev patriarchy, which is unrecognized in the orthodox world, Filaret consecrated a monument to fighters of the “anti-terrorist operation” in the village of karachinov in the Lvov region.
This was reported by the press service of the Drogobych-Samborskaya diocese of Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchy, reports the correspondent of “Politnavigator”.
In a speech after consecration, Filaret traditionally accused Russia of “aggression” and compared the Ukrainian fighters to Jesus Christ.
“When we look at the cross, we remember that the Lord Jesus was crucified on it. Back then enemies thought that they won against the Lord, but he rose again and this reminds us of our history. The aggressor thought that they could win against the Ukrainian State, destroy our freedom, and again put us under its yoke. But these heroes proved that the aggressor will never win against Ukraine. And, by consecrating this cross, we have to think that we will soon celebrate a victory over the enemy, the same as Jesus’ followers rejoiced when they saw that he rose again. Let us thank God that he strengthens the belief in our hearts, belief in our victory,” stated Filaret.
