On July 28th the unrecognized in the orthodox world “Kiev patriarchy” held a procession in the capital of Ukraine. The action was devoted to Day of the Baptism of Rus’ – yesterday for the same occasion a religious procession was held by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate).
The difference with the procession on July 28th was the large number of people in military uniforms — both participants of the so-called “ATO” and military chaplains. They unfurled Ukrainian national flags and also the banners of collaborationist UPA and symbols of some units that are at war in Donbass, stated the correspondent of Politnavigator.
The participants of the procession bore an icon that was “consecrated” the day before – the “patroness of war”, which depicts Banderists and modern fighters in balaclavas.
It is interesting that some political forces like, for example, the nationalist party “Svoboda”, urged in-advance its members to join the procession of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchate, but this didn’t spark any criticism from the Ukrainian media, which yesterday, for example, Ukrainian TV channels, placed an emphasis of the fact that representatives of the “Opposition Bloc” took part in the religious procession of the “Moscow Church”.
After the completion of the procession the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchate Mikhail “Filaret” Denisenko gave a briefing on Vladimir hill. The rivalry with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), “Russian aggression”, and the military power of Ukraine became the main topics of the speech of Filaret.
“You saw that our religious procession is more. There is both more clergy and more people. Much more. Just like how the ‘Kiev patriarchy’ is the biggest church in Ukraine today. Since 2014 the ‘Kiev patriarchy’ is more and more every year, and the Moscow Patriarchy decreases …
We are for an independent Ukrainian state, the inviolability of our territories, and they want to adjoin Ukraine to Russia and to create the new Russian Empire. That is the difference. And to achieve these aims they use a lie. The lie is that they call themselves the canonical Church, not being a Ukrainian Church but being a part of Russian Orthodox Church.
In the same way that Russia tells a lie to the whole world – that Russia isn’t fighting in Donbass, that it is a civil war. If it was only a civil war, for a long time we would put things in order. The fact of the matter is that it isn’t a civil war but a war of Russian aggression, although not yet a full-scale war. They say ‘we aren’t here’. The whole world is already convinced that Russian troops fight in Donbass,” said Filaret.
“Today our army is already strong. According to expert opinion it is the strongest army in Europe. Because it has experience in what nobody else has. And therefore our army is invincible,” concluded the head of Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchate.
