Besides the procession of soldiers and officers of the UAF participating in the civil war on the Eastern front and units of NATO from 9 countries, on Independence Day a column of neo-Nazis passed by on the Khreshchatyk. However, neither the Ukrainian nor the western media didn’t publish materials about it in order not to connect the neo-Nazis chanting demands to kill Moskals, Jews, and Communists to representatives of NATO. This was reported by the correspondent of the Federal News Agency (FAN) from the place of events.
The column, under the flags of “Svoboda”, UNA-UNSO, the “Azov” battalion, C14, “Donbass” battalion, and others, was the last to march in the so-called parade on Independence Day. In the crowd not only Moskals (Russians), but also Jews, and also Communists were loudly cursed. Also, nationalists sharply criticized government officials who, in their opinion, prevent them from “solving the Moskal question once and for all”, and also prevent them from “getting revenge on Russians for the Ilovaisk cauldron”, the anniversary of which falls at the end of August.
As a reminder, it is precisely nationalist battalions that first entered the Donetsk and Lugansk regions during the civil war on the Eastern front, and it is precisely they who were defeated as a result of the reciprocal actions of the militia of Donbass. It is also for this reason that dozens of inhabitants of Kiev in folk attire holding portraits in their hands of relatives who were killed near Ilovaisk were at the rear of the column of nationalists.
The column passed by the Khreshchatyk, and then went up Mikhaylovskaya Square to St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monasterym, where a meeting took place also featuring nationalist slogans, and also demands for UAF Generals to be “held accountable for the Ilovaisk cauldron”.

Taking place at the same time nearby was a meeting of supporters of the former governor of Odessa region Mikheil Saakashvili, who Petro Poroshenko deprived of Ukrainian nationality because of his criticism. Representatives of the party of Saakashvili “Movement of new forces” stated that “Saakashvili will break into the country on September 10th, and will bring order here”.
“The vileness, craftiness, and impudence is such a distinguishing feature of today’s kleptocratic pseudo-elite. We are obliged to assert our rights and we are obliged to give Mikheil Saakashvili the chance to return to Ukraine in order to fight together for our independence, for our rights and freedoms; so that public activists who reveal corruption aren’t condemned; so that freedom of speech isn’t smothered; so that the civil movement isn’t quelled; so that corruption doesn’t spread, which like a cancer tumor has gotten into all spheres of our life. On September 10th at the Krakovets checkpoint we wait for all those who are not indifferent to meet Mikheil Saakashvili together, to help him return to Ukraine,” said the activists.
However, the patriots who gathered on the Khreshchatyk greeted these appeals indifferently, and some even entered into a polemic with activists of the “Movement of new forces”, calling them agents of the Kremlin. A fight which nearly took place, which was stopped by police officers who were on duty nearby.
