It Turns Out That the French Police Are Using “Weapons of War” During Yellow Vests Protests

The “defensive bullet launcher” (LBD) has been recognised as a “weapon of war” by international regulations. When exported, LBDs are sold under the “war material” category, notes Le Canard Enchaîné.

The well-known defensive bullet launcher (LBD) is classified as a “weapon of war” by international regulation, reported Le Canard Enchaîné on Wednesday, April 24th.

Yet, according to the newspaper, the LBDs are sold under the category “war material” when they are exported.

As was stated by Le Canard Enchaîné, this classification is explained by the fact that the LBD is originally a military grenade launcher used as a riot weapon.

International regulations that take into account the caliber of weapons prevent them from being classified as civilian weapons

Since the beginning of the Yellow Vests mobilisation, many voices, including the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, have called to ban the LBD, which is accused of causing serious injuries to dozens of protesters. But, on April 12th, the State Council refused to consult the Constitutional Council on the issue, which was request by associations.

After the LBD – which was officially qualified as a weapon of war – truncheons, grenades, and abusive imprisonments, now they send attack dogs, and what’s worse, we have not seen this since the occupation. Soon there will be camps.”
