Over two years the Ukrainian army received nearly two billion dollars from Tokyo.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces received in two years from Japan help to the total amount of $1.85 billion, reports the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

“Despite the fact that there is distance between our countries, relations between Ukraine and Japan is an example of the creation of effective relations. We hope for further development and deepening of Ukrainian-Japanese relations,” said the Minister of Defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak at negotiations with the ambassador of Japan in Ukraine Shigeki Sumi, and handed to him from the departmental a badge of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine – “Badge of Honour”.

The press service of the Ministry of Defence specified that the financial aid of Japan went to various programs, and not only military ones.

“Recently the military hospital of the sector of safety and defense received new medical equipment to the sum of $2.5 million. In particular, medical institutions of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine – for the sum of $680,000 dollars,” it is said in the message.

Also it was reported that the allocated money was spent on the solution to issues of internally displaced persons.
