Ukraine currently has no relation neither to the EU nor to NATO, and everyone should be aware of this, said the head of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker.
“I saw that my friend (the President of Ukraine Petro) Poroshenko a few days ago said that Ukraine is the EU and NATO. At the moment it is neither the former nor the latter. Everybody should know this,” said Juncker, speaking in front of the ambassadors of the European Union.
He noted that “at the moment in the world there are 60 ongoing wars, of which none are in Europe, except Ukraine, which is not European in the sense of the European Union”.
The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on 26th August stated that the country will continue on its European path and will become a member of EU and NATO. According to him, “some politicians in Ukraine and outside its borders” do not believe in the prospect of Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO. Poroshenko is confident that Ukraine will fulfill the criteria to apply for membership in both organizations.
