In order to prevent the uncontrolled distribution of weapons, the Azovnationalist battalion was granted unlimited powers to check military personnel leaving the OUF zone.

Such information was reported during a briefing by the official representative of the operative command of the DPR Eduard Basurin.

“In order to prevent the uncontrolled movement of weapons and ammunition, ‘flying squads’ were formed from the militants of the regiment of the National Guard ‘Azov’ that are most loyal to the authorities in power and endowed with unlimited powers to check the access regime at checkpoints. Nazis were also granted the right to search Ukrainian military personnel leaving the zone of the operation of occupational forces,” reported Eduard Basurin.

According to him, such measures have already led to some results.

“Over the last 2 weeks the nationalist squad has already carried out detentions at checkpoints in the zones of responsibility of the 79th and 10th brigades. 5 servicemen of the UAF were detained for attempting to take out of the ‘OUF’ zone 18 automatic machine guns, 6 grenade launchers, and the corresponding ammunition, which is fictitiously written off as being used during the combat operations of units of the 36th separate brigade of marines and the 53rd separate mechanised brigade. They are currently under investigation. The facts of representatives of volunteer organisations and media participating in arms and ammunition trafficking were also revealed,” added Basurin.
