Kiev: Without Donbass Coal Ukraine Will Return to the Middle Ages

Translated by Nikita Che

Deputy Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine George Tuka (the former Head of the Lugansk Region Military and Civilian Administration since 22.07.2015 till 29.04.2016) admitted that Ukraine depends on coal delivery from mines that are located in the DPR and LPR.

“Whether we like it or not, as of today about one-third of the country’s territory is heated by coal mark (A), which is mined at the non-government controlled areas. So when I hear calls to get rid of that coal… you could stay without heating, transport, shops, Internet, and all the things that need power supply. That’s a suggestion to come back to the Middle Ages. Yes, those who suggest it are hoping that the Middle Ages will happen somewhere far from their homes, so that they are going to remain in a warm room and show off their patriotic anger on Facebook,” said Tuck

He added that “this cannot be called a purchase formally – it looks like the transportation of produced coal from one department of the Mine Fuel and Energy Company to another, without any money transfer.”
