The Ukrainian command announced an alleged offensive of the People’s militia near Novotoshkovka in order to justify the losses suffered earlier due to a firefight between units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. “Today the Ukrainian media started to spread false information – that units of the People’s militia of the LPR went on an offensive near the settlement of Novotoshkovka. Therefore, allegedly, in the ranks of the UAF there are losses,” said Marochko.

“I want to refute this statement and assure that the military personnel of the People’s militia of the LPR are at their earlier taken positions and observe the agreements reached in Minsk,” he said.

Marochko sounded the alleged reasons that the Ukrainian side made this provocative statement.

“On the eve of the emergence of such a statement we recorded machine gun fire directly on the territory controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to our data, as a result of this incident in one of the units of the UAF there were losses that need to be somehow justified. We can’t say why the Ukrainian Armed Forces opened fire at their own positions, but it was the People’s militia of the LPR that was blamed for the consequences of the opening of fire,” reported the Lieutenant-Colonel.

“Besides this, as we said earlier, in this area the work of the Ukrainian media was noted. It shouldn’t be excluded that it is a part of a large-scale information provocation being prepared on the eve of the meeting within the framework of the ‘Normandy format’ of Foreign Ministers planned for June 11th in Berlin,” added Marochko.
