In an interview with the website of “RBK-Ukraine” the Superior of the Svyatogorsk Lavra Metropolitan Arseny – who is, in fact, the fifth ranked person in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) – stated who, according to him, started the war in Donbass and whose hands the blood of civilians is on.

Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada say: ‘You are telling an untruth. It was Russians in disguise’. I will tell my ‘untruth’ at the Final Judgement too,” he said.

Also the Metropolitan remembered some horrible moments during the fighting near Slavyansk in 2014.

“Near Karachun there is the church of the Mother of God. Father Tikhon served there, he is 24-years-old. The choir sang the Cherubikon hymn whilst lying on the floor because there was shelling, shrapnel flew into the temple. A parishioner jumped out of the church and ran home, the church parvis severed her head. This was, unfortunately, during the shelling of the city by our Ukrainian troops,” said the deputy of the Svyatogorsk monastery in an interview with the Ukrainian website.
