The psychological traumas of participants of the ATO are connected to the use of artillery weapons, reported the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee for veterans.
More than 1,000 participants of the ATO committed suicide. This was reported by the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee for veterans, participants of military operations, participants of the ATO, and people with disabilities Aleksandr Tretyakov, reported “UNIAN” on Tuesday, April 24th.
According to him, this war differs radically from the war that was in Afghanistan. If in Afghanistan small arms were used, in Donbass it is artillery.
“And, of course, all psychological traumas are connected more with this. And it is even more difficult for soldiers. Many have contusions,” he said.
Tretyakov added that as of April 2nd the number of participants of the ATO is 329,500 people, the average age of veterans is 35, they are socially very active, and they have an aggravated sense of justice.
Earlier the Chief Military Prosecutor Anatoly Matios reported that in 2018 two suicides are recorded per week in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
