NATO Increased Presence near Russian Border by Eight-Fold

Translated by Ollie Richardson

NATO has increased its presence near the Russian border by eightfold, said the Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu at the enlarged meeting of the board of the Defense Ministry.

Shoigu noted that NATO declared Russia as the main threat, increasing its military potential on the Russian border. In addition, he emphasized that the intelligence activities of NATO intensified along the borders of the Russian Federation. According to him, NATO does this instead of combining efforts in the fight against international terrorism.

The Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed the need to monitor compliance with the military balance on the perimeter of Russian borders and to make timely adjustments in the event of threats.
