On a day that wasn’t ordinary for Ukraine – July 9th, when Kiev was sequentially visited by the UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, and the head of the American State Department Rex Tillerson (it is precisely this State that is the main financial donor of the North Atlantic Alliance), on the Twitter account of the bloc an official video appeared. Already by the end of the first hour of viewing on the social network mocking comments in English began to appear. And not without reason.

The creators of the video dated for the 20th anniversary of relations between the Alliance and Ukraine didn’t think of anything more clever than to place at the very beginning of the video the participants of a paid meeting near the Verkhovna Rada with the symbols… of the Party of Regions. Probably, they mistook the blue-white colors of the Party of Regions for the colors of the NATO flag.

As it is known, the gradual, but resolute kickback from pro-NATO positions declared at the time of President Leonid Kuchma started precisely with the coming to power of the Party of Regions and its leader Viktor Yanukovych – the 4th President of Ukraine.

By the beginning of the mass riots of late autumn of 2013, which passed into the so-called Revolution of Dignity (or state coup), in the legislation of Ukraine there was no mention left of the intention of the country to enter the Alliance.

These norms were restored only in the summer of 2017.

Attention should be paid to the fact that this gaffe was made by the same terrorist organisation armed with bombs and jets that was “convinced” that Slobodan Milosevic and Muammar Gaddafi were “guilty”, and still is convinced that “Russian aggression” exists. I.e. they are so “knowledgable” about Ukraine – a country that is an alliance member in waiting – that comprehension of basic facts of the main political parties in the country are somehow lacking. Either this or NATO really tried to use this footage for propaganda purposes, hoping that viewers have the intelligence quotient of an amoeba.
