The Command of the Navy of Ukraine stated its readiness to use weapons in the event of provocations regarding military facilities or military personnel in Odessa. This was reported by the press service of the Naval Forces on its page on Facebook [note that the post was deleted and a clarification follow-up was posted, which blames the media for “distorting their message” – ed].

“The Command of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine appeals to local authorities, to citizens with a request to be vigilant, not to ‘succumb’ to the provocations of the Russian special services, to keep calm, to observe the laws of Ukraine, and at the detection of suspects in places where military facilities are located to immediately report to the military command and law enforcement agencies,” it is said in the appeal.

It is noted that recently cases of attempting to stage provocations, sabotage, acts of terrorism, and other illegal actions against military facilities, especially concerning bases (arsenals), warehouses etc. have become frequent.

In this regard the Command of the Naval Forces draws the attention of citizens to the fact that in the event of any attempts of provocations, inappropriate actions by destructive elements with regards to military facilities or military personnel, adequate response measures will be taken, up to the use of weapons.

The Command calls fellow citizens to use common sense and expresses the hope for understanding.
