The Ukrainian TV channel “1+1” addressed to the head of state Petro Poroshenko, the prime minister Vladimir Groysman and the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy with a request to intervene in the situation surrounding the TV channel. Despite the decision passed by the National Council on TV and radio broadcasting to prolong the license of “1+1”, which expires today, the channel didn’t receive it. Journalists suspect that raids are being prepared on the TV channel.
The former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Oleg Tsarev explained to NSN why the suspicions of journalists are justified.
“Kolomoisky withdrew from “Privatbank” from six to eight billion dollars. The state, having nationalized the bank, actually assumed Kolomoisky’s debts. I.e. now each citizen of Ukraine will pay for the nationalization of “Privatbank” 3000 hryvnias,” declared Tsarev to NSN. “Naturally, the government tries to find the stolen money. One part is in Kolomoisky’s property in Ukraine. Also, attempts to look for money abroad are possible. And the 1+1 channel will be used by Kolomoisky for pressure on the power in this situation. People, whose money is in “Privatbank”, may support Kolomoisky. With the correct highlighting by his media group it will create problems for the government. That’s why Poroshenko’s desire to deprive Kolomoisky of TV channel “1+1″ is perfectly understandable,” the former People’s Deputy considers.
The politician reminded that in Ukraine the largest media belongs to oligarchical clans.
“In Ukraine there is no monopoly on mass media. The main media belong to oligarchs. “Inter” – to Levochkin and Firtash, “1+1” – Kolomoisky’s group, ICTV – to Pinchuk, TRK “Ukraine” – to Akhmetov, and “Fifth channel” – Poroshenko. There is state mass media, but they have no ratings, they don’t have popularity. There is also grant mass media created on grants such as “Gromadske TV”. NewsOne belongs to Rabinovich,” explained Tsarev to NSN.
Later, it became known that Groysman spoke in support of the petition of journalists from “1+1” and against the infringement of freedom of speech, however he suggested to wait for an official reaction from the National Council.
