The Armed Forces of Ukraine shelled the positions of Right Sector and the Azov nationalist battalion near the DPR village of Lebedinskoye, which is under the control of Kiev.
As the chief of the press service of the operative command of the Donetsk People’s Republic Daniil Bezsonov reported, the positions of radicals were shelled by gunners of the UAF 36th separate brigade of marines. As a result 3 militants from the nationalist battalions were killed, and five others were wounded.
According to the former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleg Tsarev, who in 2014 came over to the side of the militia, the conflict between the UAF and nationalist battalion was inevitable.
“The fact that a conflict between the Ukrainian power and radicals would develop was obvious from the very beginning,” noted the Ukrainian politician in comment to the Federal News Agency.
Oleg Tsarev explained that radicals need war, they need to be in the combat zone in order to receive power and weapons, to trade them, and to be engaged in rackets and raider captures.
“The Ukrainian authorities want the nationalists who are no longer under their control to leave Donbass, but radicals want to fight in order to continue their activities, without turning at the same time into ordinary armed bandits. Because war with ‘terrorists’ gives a moral justification of their illegal activity,” explained Oleg Tsarev, who in 2014 became the speaker of the parliament of Novorossiya.
However, the conflict between the UAF and nationalist battalions in Donbass must end with the defeat of the latter, considers the Ukrainian politician.
“After all, the authorities are the authorities. Nationalists themselves said that a conflict with the current Ukrainian authorities was inevitable for them, and waited with horror for the start of the ‘cleansing’. Anyway, the State machine of violence is stronger. Sooner or later, or maybe much later, Kiev will be forced to quickly get rid of radicals,” considers Oleg Tsarev.
At the same time, according to him, the conflict between the UAF and nationalist battalions is only a good thing for Donetsk and Lugansk.
“While UAF and nationalist battalions continue to destroy each other, nothing threatens DPR and LPR militiamen, nothing threatens them, nobody attacks them. They just watch what is happening from aside, because while the UAF and nationalists shoot each other, they aren’t shooting at the militiamen,” concluded Oleg Tsarev.
