The former speaker of the parliament of Novorossiya Oleg Tsarev on the air of NSN said that the West can’t influence the decision on elections in Donbass in any way.

The representative of LPR in the political subgroup in Minsk Rodion Miroshnik stated that Western countries ignore the self-proclaimed Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics in order to involve Russia in the conflict in Donbass. According to him, the West not only doesn’t agree with the participation of representatives of the DPR and LPR in meetings of the UN Security Council devoted to them, but also doesn’t even give Donbass the chance to voice its point of view.

It should be noted that during a discussion that took place on October 30th in the UN, members of the Security Council and also the former and future members of council who adjoined them – Italy, Belgium, and Germany – stated that they don’t recognise the planned elections and ask Russia to stop this process. Representatives of the self-proclaimed republics weren’t invited to the meeting.

The former speaker of the parliament of Novorossiya Oleg Tsarev stated on the air of NSN said that Russia was dragged into the conflict in Donbass long ago. In addition, he suggested to hold elections in local councils of the republics.

“I don’t think that it is possible anymore to somehow influence the taken decision concerning elections. They will take place and leaders will be elected. And Russia is indeed in the conflict. It can’t be aside from it. Russian people die in Donbass. The die for the fact that they wanted to join Russia. And it is precisely for this reason that Russia helps them and fights for peace. And elections, of course, should take place. The republics can’t live without leaders,” said Tsarev.

According to him, Ukraine has flagrantly violated the Minsk Agreements in which the guarantee of the personal security of participants of these agreements is stipulated. In particular Tsarev reminded that the former head of the DPR Aleksandr Zakharchenko, who died as a result of an explosion at the “Separ” restaurant, was one of its participants. In this regard, according to the interlocutor of NSN, it is necessary to hold local council elections in addition to elections of the leaders of the republics.

“For several years there haven’t been any mayors or deputies, and it is impossible to live without them. There is no such country where there are no regional or city deputies. Now in Donetsk and in Lugansk there is only an administration, but this is an executive body. Deputies – elective people – should make decisions. The republics are the people’s, and it means that the power must be the people’s. Respectively, the people are local councils. It is the residents of Donbass who are interested in it, first of all. It is impossible to live in a state of war for a 5th year. It is necessary to somehow improve life,” concluded Tsarev.
