Patrushev: USA Developed Biological Weapons Components in Ukraine Near Russian Borders

NEW – August 19, 2022

The development of biological weapons components was carried out in Ukraine in close proximity to the borders of the Russian Federation with the participation of the United States. This was stated by the Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolay Patrushev, speaking on Friday at the 17th meeting of the secretaries of the security councils of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.

“There are facts of the implementation of the Pentagon program in Ukraine in violation of the articles of the Convention on the Prohibition of Biological and Toxin Weapons. The analysis of the projects carried out in Ukrainian laboratories gives sufficient grounds to conclude that the development of biological weapons components was carried out in the immediate vicinity of our borders,” he said.

The Secretary of the Russian Security Council noted that “the available concrete examples allow us to state that the United States is not going to ensure openness and verifiability with regard to the functioning of their biological laboratories on the territory of other countries, in particular in the post-Soviet space”.

“The formal presence of such biological objects in national ownership is insufficient for effective control over the actions of Americans, and this is confirmed by reliable information,” he stressed.

In addition, Patrushev admitted that the United States, shifting the blame for the origin of the coronavirus to other countries, are trying to avoid responsibility themselves.

“We oppose Washington shifting the blame for the origin of the coronavirus to other countries. It cannot be ruled out that in this way the United States is trying to avoid responsibility, hide its role in the development of the pathogen and divert attention from its activities to increase military biological activity,” he said.
