Pompeo, Ukraine’s FM Discussed Moving American Businesses to Ukraine After the Coronavirus Pandemic

Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, during a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, proposed moving US enterprises to Ukraine after the coronavirus pandemic. This became known from the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

“We are determined to further develop the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States. Not for the sake of diplomatic formality, but to strengthen the true friendship of the Ukrainian and American nations,” said Kuleba.

He assured Pompeo of Ukraine’s readiness to create profitable conditions for American enterprises, which are now considering the possibility of transferring production from other regions to optimise supply chains.

The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry invited his American colleague to put promising cooperation projects as the basis of the next meeting of the Ukrainian-American Commission of Strategic Partnership and to hold it this year.

The interlocutors paid attention to the reform process in Ukraine, inclusive with projects and programs supported by the US government. Kuleba confirmed that the Verkhovna Rada is determined to adopt the banking law necessary to obtain financial support from the IMF.

Kuleba thanked Washington for helping Ukraine counter the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus and the socio-economic consequences of the pandemic.

Mike Pompeo, for his part, assured the United States of its unwavering support for Ukraine’s “sovereignty and territorial integrity”.

Recall that at the end of March it was reported that the US allocated $1.2 million for Ukraine to “fight” the coronavirus infection.
