The leader of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko declared that mobilization has stopped in the country, and all resources are now directed towards the creation of a professional contractual army. The president reported this at a meeting with residents of the Ternopil region.

“The Ukrainian Armed Forces have completely passed to a contractual basis. Today at the front there are only soldiers who are contract employees. I completely stopped mobilization, and no one else will be grabbed by the neck for the defence of Ukraine,” he said.

According to Poroshenko, now in the Ukrainian army there are only volunteers who know why they are in the Armed Forces, as well as how to properly defend the country from enemies. Furthermore, the President expressed his pride over the fact that Ukraine managed to create a powerful army in a short period of time.

As a reminder, earlier the Ministry of Defence of the Donetsk People’s Republic reported that fighters of the Ukrainian army fired 864 times at line items at the positions of the militia and frontline settlements of the DPR, having used heavy arms. The settlement of Zaitsevo in Gorlovka, Yasinovataya, Dokuchaievsk, the western suburb of Donetsk, the village of Spartak, Krasnyi Partyzan, Oktyabr, Kominternovo, Leninskoye, Sakhanka, and Sergeevka all came under fire.
