On Friday, January 4th, the newly appointed Metropolitan of the Vinnytsia diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) Varsonofy, along with a group of acolytes, came outside the Vinnytsia regional state administration and voiced a written appeal against the authorities interfering in church affairs. A video of this was uploaded on the page of Metropolitan Varsonofy on Facebook. Also, the priests demanded a meeting with the governor.

In the written appeal signed by priests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) there is a request for the authorities to not interfere in church affairs and also references to the persecution of the church.

Before this, a meeting between three Metropolitans of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) from different dioceses – Ionafan, Varsonofy, and Agapit – in the framework of the Coordination council of bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Vinnytsia region, which came to the governor, took place in Vinnytsia.

As a reminder, in the Vinnytsia region from the 1,000 parishes of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), more than 20 churches joined the Orthodox Church in Ukraine.
