Professor Mezhevich Doubts Annalena Baerbock Will Have the Courage to Put a Bullet in Her Temple

NEW – January 27, 2023

Nikolay Mezhevich, Chief Researcher at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, President of the Russian Association for Baltic Studies (RAPI) and Professor at St. Petersburg State University, spoke about the consequences of the German Foreign Minister’s words that Europe is at war with Russia.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said that Germany, together with Western countries, is at war with Russia. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mariya Zakharova called on German Ambassador Geza Andreas von Geyr to clarify Germany’s position on involvement in the conflict in Ukraine, and Croatian President Zoran Milanović reminded that Germany had already fought agains Russia, and it ended badly.

According to Nikolay Mezhevich, Annalena Baerbock was the weak link that openly said what everyone knew, but no one said.

“For the first time since 1941, the German Foreign Minister announced that Germany is at war with Russia. Full wording: Europe is at war with Russia. But when the German Foreign Minister says this, and not, say, Hungary or Malta, it means that Germany is at war with Russia,” Nikolay Mezhevich said.

For the Foreign Minister, making such statements at a time of tense relations between the two countries is quite risky, the political scientist believes, because it can provoke a response from the other side of the conflict. Annalena Baerbock, according to him, in fact, sanctioned the persecution of Russian citizens in Germany and Germans in Russia as representatives of warring parties.

“If I walk along the German Embassy and see its employee entering the territory of the Russian Federation, and we are in the state that Ms. Baerbock said, is this person with a German passport a legitimate target for me? War is war, so this is a representative of the enemy’s diplomatic army, do I have the right to capture them,” Nikolay Mezhevich asks rhetorically.

According to the political scientist, the German leadership does not realise the measure of responsibility when it makes bellicose statements against Russia. But irresponsibility is not a mitigating circumstance in determining the degree of guilt of a statesperson who unleashed a war, he reminded. And Annalena Baerbock will sooner or later have to answer for her actions, just like her predecessors, who were responsible for the many-millions of victims of World War II.

“This is not an ordinary statement, and I am not sure that when it comes to a real fight, Ms. Baerbock and her political associates will have the same degree of perverted courage that the leaders of Nazi Germany possessed, many of whom found the strength to commit suicide and only a few went to trial. In the aggregate, it will end exactly like this: either in the first or in the second way,” Nikolay Mezhevich said.

The absolute majority of people in Europe and Germany, too, the political scientist believes, retain common sense and do not want to fight against Russia, as is evidenced by the statement of Croatian President Zoran Milanović and other European politicians. But, unfortunately, power in Europe has ended up in the hands of mad(wo)men who are dragging Europeans into a bloody adventure, and no vaunted rights and freedoms of European democracy can stop them. Europeans, according to the political scientist, are in a kind of enchanted state: they do not protest against the provocative statements of their politicians, as a result of which they move from words to deeds. For example, they were not outraged by the words of former German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron that the Normandy process was launched in order to prepare Ukraine for war with Russia. Now they are silent when former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson says the same thing and calls for the destruction of the land bridge to Crimea.

“I would like to remind this fool that Britain is connected by unique underwater infrastructure corridors to Europe and America. Here, in general, it’s possible to somehow start this process, but it is impossible to complete it. And given their population density, I in their place would not provoke a nuclear war,” Nikolay Mezhevich said.

In general, against the background of such statements made by politicians and leaders of Western countries, Russia, the political scientist believes, needs to bring its strategic nuclear forces to full combat readiness. In his opinion, we have no other option left to reason with the West. According to him, the statement of US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, who promised to ease sanctions in exchange for the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine and the return of its territories, is indicative in this regard. With these statements, Nikolay Mezhevich believes, the West shows that it does not intend to abandon its plans to break up Russia.
