Protests in Kiev: IDPs From Donbass and Crimea Picket the Rada

Translated by Ollie Richardson & Angelina Siard

Already in the capital of Ukraine not a day passes without a protest in front of the Verkhovna Rada building. This time a rally took place outside the windows of the Rada involving Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Crimea and Donbass.

They demand from Deputies and officials to ensure the implementation of their legitimate right to elect their representatives in authorities and local government. In addition, the IDPs want the government to allocate money for the carrying out of local programs for the adaptation and integration of the people who moved from Donbass and Crimea to a new territorial community.

It is worth nothing that a few dozen people gathered outside the Rada building. In their hands of some were flags of the political party “Power of People”, some people came with posters “Right to vote for IDPs”, “where is the budget for IDPs?” and “budget for state programs for IDPs”.

As a reminder, yesterday, under the windows of the Verkhovna Rada, also on Maidan, and in front of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine there was a mass labour union protest. They demanded that the government cancel the exorbitant utility tariffs, as well as to provide citizens with a decent salary.
