Pushkov: Ukraine Has No Historical Place in Europe

Translated by Ollie Richardson

The head of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Aleksey Pushkov commented on the statement of the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on the “official divorce” of Ukraine with Russia. According to Pushkov, Poroshenko, probably, exists in another reality.

In any case, the Ukrainian leader didn’t consider that Ukraine has no historical place as a part of the countries of Europe. Especially as before 1991 such a state as Ukraine didn’t exist at all.

As a reminder, previously Poroshenko completely seriously stated that Ukraine has finally formalised the divorce with the Russian Empire and so, philosophically, Ukrainians must perceive this. The President added that the visa-free regime returns Ukraine to its historical place as a part of the European countries, as “independent” Ukraine is an integral part of Europe.
