Rada Deputy: Kiev Paid $400,000 for Klimkin’s Meeting With Trump

Translated by Ollie Richardson

The Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Andrey Artemenko claims that Kiev paid $400,000 dollars for the meeting of the Ukrainian delegation and the top leadership of the US.

“For this meeting the Ukrainian side paid a well-known American lobbyist company $400,000 using money of the Ukrainian taxpayer, stolen from the Ukrainian people,” wrote Artemenko on his page on Facebook.

According to him, information about this within half a year will appear on the official website of the US Department of Justice, as it is demanded by American legislation.

In addition, Artemenko claims that the meeting of the Ukrainian delegation and Trump and Pence wasn’t planned at all, but was “compensation for meeting between president Trump and Minister (of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey) Lavrov and Ambassador (of Russia in the US Sergey) Kislyak”, which took place the day before.

The deputy has added that the White House was the initiator of the meeting, which lasted six minutes.

The day prior Trump accepted the head of Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pavel Klimkin in the White House. Also, Klimkin held negotiations with the Vice-President Michael Pence, the subject of the meeting being the situation in Donbass. Kiev called this meeting “a powerful signal of support”.

This was not the first visit of Klimkin to Washington, however the head of Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs managed to achieve a personal meeting with Trump only now. Klimkin visited the US in March, however at the time he was accepted only by the Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. Also, in the middle of April it became known that the US intends to immediately reduce financial aid to Ukraine in 2018 by 69% percent.
