The court in Kiev decided to initiate a criminal case against the former Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk. On the air of radio Sputnik the president of the Center for System Analysis and Forecasting Rostislav Ishchenko expressed the opinion that this ruling won’t have any consequences.
“I think that nothing will happen as a result. As a rule, such things happen during some internecine corporate wars. If the authorities wanted to deal with any problems with Yatsenyuk, then a criminal case would be initiated by the prosecutor’s office. In general there are enough bodies that can initiate a criminal case against Yatsenyuk. But in this situation they won’t do anything. NABU tries to force a criminal case through the courts. It is clear that it will initiate nothing and even if they do, then will it initiate proceedings and will close them. For some time it will be an informational pretext, a PR campaign, by using this case it will be possible to leak some information discrediting the ‘bright image’ of the former Ukrainian Prime Minister. Most likely here it concerns a thief stealing a bludgeon from another thief. I.e., something wasn’t shared out. I don’t think that it has some political significance,” said Rostislav Ishchenko.
