The member of the Federation Council’s Defense and Security Committee Olga Kovitidi in a conversation with RT commented on the acceptance by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine at the first reading the bill on the reintegration of Donbass. According to her, Kiev at last has shown its true attitude towards the Minsk Agreements.
“For three years Ukraine systematically didn’t fulfill its obligations according to the Minsk Agreements, the implementation of which is impossible without the awareness of the fault by the Ukrainian authorities before the people of Ukraine for the organized coup and the civil war in Donbass. <…> The law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada became a public statement about the actual exit of Ukraine from the Minsk Agreements and a demonstration of readiness to officially begin a war against the civilians of Donbass,” she said.
The Senator also emphasized that if the bill is finally adopted, then it will become the point of no return for Ukraine.
“Poroshenko’s law launches a war in the center of Europe, creates an external threat for States neighboring Ukraine. With this ominous political preference a stalemate role is defined for Ukraine, the main players that are far away from Europe pursue exclusively their own mercantile interests,” noted Kovitidi.
Earlier the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the bill on the reintegration of Donbass at the first reading. The decision was supported by 233 parliamentarians.
