The former President of Georgia and the former governor of Odessa region Mikheil Saakashvili complained that in 2008, 200 planes and 2000 tanks were used against his army. He stated this on the air of the “Freedom of speech” program.
According to Saakashvili, Ukraine doesn’t know what the real Russian army is.
“This war, as it is now being conducted in Ukraine, you understand, was from the first days of my presidency in Georgia. Our soldiers were regularly killed, things were regularly blown up, we had destabilization, hybrid war, there were terrorist attacks, including in the capital. And such a war as we had in 2008, isn’t in Ukraine. And God forbid that there will be. We were bombed by 200 planes, 2000 tanks in two days came, hundreds of thousands of soldiers were mobilized and hundred thousand came. That hasn’t happened here [Ukraine],” stated Saakashvili.
This caused a strong reaction from the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko Aleksandr Briginec, who took offense from the fact that Saakashvili considered the Georgian war to be more “strong” than the war in Donbass.
“You shouldn’t have said what you did. When you start to measure wars and to say whose war was more terrible – yours or ours, it is better for you to keep silent. What you said is a shame. I think that it will be the main subject of conversation of the Ukrainian people tomorrow when you said that your war was more strong, and ours is not so strong. I am ashamed for you”.
In return Saakashvili declared that the Ukrainian authorities lie so much that the people don’t believe in “Russian aggression” or “evil Putin” any more.
“Excuse me – but it is your war. If we ask the Ukrainian people, to their regret, they for a long time don’t mention Putin, the main aggressor, about the army and Russian tanks. They for a long time say that war is profitable for oligarchs – Akhmetov, Poroshenko and all the rest. And the people of Ukraine consider that it is your war, which must be stopped because you are losing your war. And we will win our war, we will make Ukraine strong and then the aggressor will leave us be. And war is favorable only for those who earn of it – your Gladkovsky, your other hucksters who earn from it,” said the former president of Georgia.
As Politnavigator reported, the ambassador of Georgia to the USA Davit Bakradze, speaking in the American Senate, asked the USA not to forget that Georgia fell under the Russian hand before Ukraine.
