The so-called “unifying sobor” is supposed to take place in Kiev on December 17th. During this event, which was initiated by the president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, the election of the head of the “new church” has to allegedly take place.

The abbot of the Svyato-Voznesensky monastery near Chernovtsi, the archbishop of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church [Moscow Patriarchate – ed] Longin, refused to participate in the so-called “unifying sobor”. He returned the Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew’s invitation to this event and called it a “satanic gathering”.

The representative of the clergy stated his position in a letter that was published by “Strana”. Longin emphasised that the “unifying” sobor in reality is a “schismatic sobor of the wicked”. The priest reproached the Ecumenical patriarchate for helping those who split the church in Ukraine.

“The ‘Unifying sobor’ is a wicked sobor and a satanic gathering … If you (Constantinople) call yourself the mother of all churches, then why do you give away our orthodox shrines to be abused and torn into pieces – a true orthodox church, our serving brothers, allows priests to be tormented and tortured?”
