At the disposal of NTV is exclusive footage from the Supreme court of Russia, where on Wednesday morning Nadezhda Savchenko unexpectedly appeared. Today at the court an appeal against the sentence of the members of the banned in Russia extremist organization UNA-UNSO was considered.
It was established that citizens of Ukraine Nikolay Karpyuk and Stanislav Klykh in the 90’s in Grozny were involved in clashes with Russian soldiers. The extremists had been given 20 and 22.5 years in jail respectively. They watched the course of the hearing via video conferencing, and were much more attentive than their compatriot.
In the Supreme court of Russia, where today the appeal on a sentence to members of an extremist organization UNA-UNSO was being considered , Nadezhda Savchenko hurried to take a seat in the first row, directly opposite the defendants. It’s impossible to not notice that the demeanour of the Deputy of Ukraine was surprisingly calm, who became known for her scandalous antics at the sessions of the Verkhovna Rada: no replication here, just a smile.
One may describe her outfit as really garish: Savchenko decided to support her fellow nationalists in traditional Ukrainian embroidery. However, the judicial atmosphere soon tired her. Firstly, not so long ago and for a long time she acted as a defendant. And, apparently, the flight from Kiev to Moscow proved to be difficult. Very soon the listener began to doze off in the comfy chair. However, the jury decided not to pay attention to the sleeping guest.
Karpyuk and Klykh were far more attentive to the words of the jury . They, seemingly, still expect a reduced sentence. On May 26th this year, the Supreme court of Chechnya sentenced the citizens of Ukraine to 22.5 and 20 years in a maximum security jail, respectively. Investigators managed to prove that in 1994-1995, they fought against Russian Federal forces in illegal armed groups. The jury decided that Karpyuk and Klykh was directly involved in the fighting against Russian troops in Grozny, in particular, in the region of Minutka Square, at the Presidential Palace, and in the territory of the railway station. Then more than 30 soldiers were killed, 13 more were seriously wounded.
For a long time Karpiuk and Klykh managed to escape justice at home, until the summer of 2014 when both came to Russia, apparently believing that all was forgotten about them. After their detention, the investigation managed to establish that the defendants were active participants in the group UNA-UNSO. The activities of this organization in the territory of our state are recognized as extremist.
It is expected that the Supreme court will make a final decision on this case. Apparently, then some response from the odious Ukrainian is expected. Especially considering Savchenko, according to NTV correspondent Vasilisa Kazakova, had enough sleep and regained her strength.
This is not the first time Savchenko has fallen asleep at meetings. In particular, she has already fallen asleep in the Rada.
