Translated by Ollie Richardson

The Security Service of Ukraine detained the blogger Pavel Volkov from Zaporizhia. He is suspected of separatism and cooperating with the self-proclaimed DPR.

The SBU uploaded a video of Volkov’s detention, in which SBU employees at first rushed into Volkov’s apartment, and only then reported who they are, and showed the resolution of court for the blogger’s arrest.

Volkov is suspected of working for the self-proclaimed DPR in 2014-2016. According to the SBU, the blogger prepared at this time and posted “on separatist Internet sites materials with calls to violate the territorial integrity and inviolability of the borders of Ukraine and provoke the incitement of ethnic strife”.

During a search SBU employees seized proof in the form of texts that were stored on Volkov’s computer. The SBU also claims that the blogger’s “new task” in the form of the organization in Zaporizhia of an “information campaign against our country” was documented.

As Glavnovosti reported, the day before, on September 28th, the Berdichevsky court sentenced journalists Dmitry Vasilets and Evgeny Timonin to 9 years of imprisonment. They are charged with creating the Internet channel “Novorossiya-TV” on YouTube, however the journalists categorically deny their participation in the creation of the channel.

In August of this year in Zhitomir the blogger Vasily Muravitsky was arrested, and is currently detained in the SBU pre-trial detention center on suspicion of high treason — cooperation with the Russian media as the author of publications about the modern realities of Ukraine.
