Statement by the Head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, in Connection With Zelensky’s Proposal to Establish “Municipal Guards” in Donbass

Zelensky’s proposals are just another attempt to replace the essence of the Minsk Agreements.

Kiev will not abandon its unsuccessful attempts to independently rewrite the Set of Measures. I strongly recommend that the President of Ukraine do better order in his own country and consider how to deal with nationalists and terrorist battalions. So far, we see no action other than campfire meetings and bleating in front of radicals.

Some “municipal guards” should be created in Kiev, where, in fact, the conflict in Donbass started in 2014.

As for the units of the People’s Militia, according to the Set of Measures, they should be created only by the decision of the local councils of the Donbass, and we will not allow any national guardsmen on their lands.

While Zelensky and his servants are trying to fight the Minsk Agreements, we continue our policy of integration with the Russian Federation and are developing as a State governed by the rule of law. Law enforcement bodies are fully operational on the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic, and all human rights and freedoms are respected and protected. We cope with our obligations to ensure order in the state and do not need the instructions of a person who, with the connivance of Ukraine, is now shooting children in the center of the capital and holding onto power via the unprecedented in terms of scale rampaging of uncontrolled gangs and ultra-radical groups.

The maximum we expect from him is to stop the senseless word play in the media space and finally start practical concrete actions to implement the Set of Measures.
