Viktor Yanukovych’s defence insists on interrogating European leaders who in February, 2014, guaranteed a settlement of the crisis in Ukraine, but however didn’t fulfill their obligations. This was declared by the lawyer Vitaly Serdyuk, reports the press service of the lawyer association Aver Lex.

The lawyer association Aver Lex, which represents Viktor Yanukovych’s interests, sent the corresponding petition to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, writes ukraina.ru. The defence intends to find out if any representatives of the democratic European community colluded with leaders of the Ukrainian Maidan opposition. Lawyers hope that such interrogations will be able to shed light on this aspect of the coup.

The defence of the former President demands an interrogation of the acting at that time Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the head of Department of continental Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France — Eric Fournier, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland — Radosław Sikorsky, who together with leaders of the Maidan opposition and the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych signed on February 21st, 2014, an Agreement on the settlement of the political crisis in Ukraine.

“It is necessary to interrogate them and to find out whether the European guarantors of the Agreement colluded with leaders of the opposition during the implementation of the coup in February, 2014, it is necessary to organize their interrogation,” noted the lawyer Vitaly Serdyuk.

He reminded that obligations under the agreement signed on February 21st, 2014, were executed only by Yanukovych — already on the same day the security forces began their withdrawal from the central part of Kiev, he agreed to early presidential elections and more. However, the leaders of the opposition and their European guarantors of the term of the agreement and its implementation were completely ignored. Also ignored were Viktor Yanukovych’s letters that he sent on February 22nd, 2014, to the guarantors of the Agreement on the settlement of the crisis – Steinmeier, Fournier, and Sikorsky – with a request to intervene for the restoration of the constitutional order in Ukraine, the rule of law, peace, law and order, and the protection of the citizens of Ukraine.

“Both the terms of agreement and Viktor Yanukovych’s letter for their implementation was completely ignored by both the opposition and the European leaders who guaranteed this Agreement. Therefore it is necessary to find out what happened and who is really guilty of the catastrophic events that became a consequence of the forceful seizure of power,” emphasized Vitaly Serdyuk.

Earlier the former head of Administration of the President of Yanukovych Andrey Klyuev stated that on February 22nd, 2014, Yanukovych wrote letters to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany – Steinmeier, Poland — Sikorsky, and France — Fabius, where once again he reminded them that their countries are guarantors of the implementation of the peace agreement, and asked them to intervene in the process of settling the political crisis in Ukraine. Klyuev reported that a response to the letters didn’t follow. The lawyer of Yanukovych Vitaly Serdyuk also confirmed the existence of the letters to foreign ministers.

As a reminder, earlier Yanukovych’s defence reported that the notorious Agreement on the crisis settlement mysteriously disappeared from the administration of the current President of Ukraine.
